This is the one book I recommend every weaver have in their library. My copy never collects dust; as it is the book I pull out every time I start a new project. I purchased this book when I had a 4 shaft loom and still use it with my 8 shaft loom. I love that it has color photographs of every draft including both the front and back of the fabric. When I was learning to weave it was helpful that the book starts with easy patterns first and works up to more complicated patterns. There are basic weaving instructions which includes how to do special hem techniques, twisting fringe and wet finishing.

The binding of the book is a coil to allow the pages to sit flat while working with it. The phrase 'Must Have' sums up this book perfectly.

Other directories (for other crafts) have been so expensive that only schools or libraries could afford them. Very complete, the photos were excellent.

Other books seem to make you think that to be a creative or complete weaver, you need more than 4 shafts. This book proved that is not true. This book is perfect for a beginning or advanced weaver.

This pattern directory should be in EVERY weaver's library. It gives an huge number of patterns for 4 shaft looms. I love how it's organized, showing a certain threading and tie-up with color depictions of each different treadling pattern so you can see how a simple change in treadling pattern or tie up changes the fabric pattern. It works well for both direct tie-up looms and those that allow you to change the tie-up.

I'm absolutely delighted with this book. A FABULOUS reference that I'll use it over and over again throughout my weaving life.
