I know you said PC, but there really isn't a lot. It was a console game and the similar ones are also. Console games. Pc tends to trend to full RTS instead of the RTS/third person hybrid. I'm going to recommend console games that are similar.
Just so you can be aware that they exist. Maybe you can emulate them?
I know xbox 360 emulators exist. There is ONE PC recommendation at the end, but I encourage you to read the other three so you are aware that they exist. First I'll recommend 3 games from xbox 360, one of which is getting a ps4/xbone remake in a few months. Nighty-Nine Nights is made by the same team that did Kingdom Under Fire.
Ram Def 2.6 Xtreme Windows 7. Your soldiers are not as important as they were in KUF, but the 'Feel' is similar. It's more dynasty-warriors esque though. Bladestorm, for the 360, was relatively similar in gameplay. Hiro Codec For Windows 7. You command 'units' (like in KUF) with your commander. Unlike KUF your hero can change what unit he is a part of instead of being a member of the 'command' unit.
They are doing an updated remake for modern consoles and PC (supposedly). On the more 'hero' oriented part of the spectrum, also from the xbox 360 generation, I'd ask you to look at Guilty Gear 2: Overture. It's a VERY different game from the guilty gear fighting games we are used to. You command soldiers in this one.
I have ONE Pc recommendation: Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires (Comes out in a few weeks!) Now I know Dynasty warriors is very little like KUF, but the Empires iterations in the series are different. Unlike the main series, (and unless playing on easy) you spend just as much time commanding your troops and officers as you do your main character.
Other than that.
